Unauthorized destruction of trees

December 12, 2024

Sylvester Britto owned property abutting Back River Bog Co.’s property. Back River Bog Co. manager Joseph Agrillo entered Britto’s property without permission and cut, cleared, and destroyed approximately 30 trees.

Britto sued Agrillo and Back River Bog Co., alleging violation of Mass. Gen. Laws ch. 242 §7.

The jury awarded $30,000, plus interest, costs, and statutory double damages. The award totaled approximately $108,300.
