Misinterpretation of fetal monitoring strip
October 22, 2024During Doe’s delivery, fetal monitoring allegedly showed fetal distress. The delivery allegedly occurred more than one hour later, and Doe was diagnosed as having suffered brain damage. He died five hours later.
The plaintiff asserted that the hospital was liable for a resident’s misinterpretation of the fetal monitoring strip, which delayed Doe’s delivery.
The parties settled for $2.75 million.
