Settlement for patient’s sepsis, wrongful death
November 19, 2024Alma Deloatch was admitted to Accordius Health at Bay Pointe, LLC, following a hospitalization. Just over two weeks later, she was transported to a hospital, where she was diagnosed as having sepsis and an unstageable sacral pressure ulcer. She died the following month and is survived by her three adult children.
One of Deloatch’s children, on behalf of her estate, sued Accordius Health at Bay Pointe, LLC; Accordius Health, LLC; and Bay Pointe Rehabilitation and Nursing, LLC, alleging negligence and wrongful death.
The parties settled for $125,000.
