    AAJ Class Action Section DEI Scholarship

     

    The Class Action Section is committed to supporting and developing a diverse and inclusive community of class action practitioners.

     

    To further this goal, the Section created a DEI Convention Scholarship in 2024. This scholarship allows up to two trial lawyer members of the Class Action Section to attend AAJ's Annual Convention, as well as provides a travel stipend to offset attendance related costs.

    AAJ's Annual Conventions are the best ways to connect AAJ trial lawyers plus offers unparalleled community, networking, and education.  The Section is thrilled to offer this opportunity to attend.

     

    What Are the Scholarship Criteria?
    This scholarship is open to:
    - An AAJ and Class Action Section (CAS) member in good standing or a non-member who meets the criteria for membership.

    - A member of underrepresented group within AAJ (including, but not limited to, ethnic/racial minorities, gender, sexual orientation, religion, age, and disability).

    - A class action practitioner with a demonstrated commitment to the civil justice system and a commitment to DEI principles.
    - Other factors to be taken into consideration:
              - Years in practice
              - Financial need
    - Candidates are only eligible to receive a scholarship once

    Please submit your completed application, resume, and personal statement to sections@justice.org

    Please be sure to address the scholarship criteria and any special considerations in your cover letter.

Who Can Join?

Section membership is open to all membership categories and Paralegal Affiliates. Certain benefits in membership categories other than Regular, Life, Sustaining, and President's Club may be restricted. In particular, access to the Section e-mail list servers are limited to Regular, Life, Sustaining, and President's Club Members, and sponsored Law Professors and Paralegal Affiliates. The online document libraries are limited to Regular, Life, Sustaining, and President's Club Members. List server participants and access to a Section's document library requires membership in that specific Section.
