2025 Team Registration Policies
School registration opens Monday, September 16 at 12 p.m. (noon) ET and closes on Tuesday, October 1 at 5 p.m. ET. Schools may enter up to two teams, and each team must consist of four law students.
There will be ten regions, some virtual and some in-person – the exact number of each will be determined after registration closes. Schools may register:
- Two in-person teams;
- Two virtual teams;
- One in-person team and one virtual team;
- One in-person team; OR
- One virtual team
Each school is guaranteed one team, and each school that requests in-person is guaranteed one in-person team. Schools serving as regional hosts will be guaranteed two teams, both in-person, should they request it at the time of registration. For all non-host schools, there is no guarantee that they will receive a second team or that the second team will be in-person. A school’s registration time may affect the way in which it receives a second team or the second team’s place on the waitlist. Team confirmations, which will include if the school is receiving one or two teams, will be sent out after registration has closed.
To help schools choose if they would like virtual or in-person teams, below is a list of the cities that are possible locations for the in-person regions. THESE CITIES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE, AND THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT A SCHOOL'S IN-PERSON TEAM(S) WILL BE ASSIGNED TO THE GEOGRAPHICALLY CLOSEST CITY TO THEM.
- Boston, MA
- Chicago, IL
- Cleveland, OH
- Denver, CO
- Houston, TX
- Philadelphia, PA
- New Orleans, LA
- New York, NY
- Raleigh, NC
- San Francisco, CA
- St. Louis, MO
- Washington, DC

Team Cancellation Policy
There will be penalties for schools with teams dropping out of the competition without cause. This is to allow schools on the waitlist ample time to prepare, to ensure that each region is full, and to ensure that the competition is fair.
- If a team drops out of the competition after 5:00 p.m. ET on November 22, you will not receive a refund.
- If a team drops out of the competition after 5:00 p.m. ET on December 10, you will not receive a refund, and the following penalties will be assessed:
- If the school has two teams competing in 2025, they will only be permitted to have one team compete in 2026.
- If the school has one team competing in 2025, they will not be permitted to field a team in 2026.
Teams that were penalized for dropping out of the 2024 competition without cause were notified before 2025 school registration opened.
